David Fujimoto, Sol Kalu, and Bert Sumikawa of Oahu, Hawaii, have recently been recognized as Hongwanji kyoshi ministers, successfully completing all necessary requirements and the 10-day kyoshi program at Nishiyama Betsuin (Kyoto, Japan). In receiving their kyoshi status, they have returned to Hawaii and have been officially recognized by Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii (Bishop Thomas Okano). Fujimoto has been assigned to Hilo Betsuin, Kalu to Hawaii Betsuin, and Sumikawa to Hawaii Betsuin and also overseeing Kapolei Buddhist Sangha.
