Australia observes 750th Memorial for Shinran Shonin


Australia- On November 14, 2010, the regional district of Australia conducted its 750th Memorial for Shinran Shonin observance at the district headquarters in Sydney. The memorial observance included the musical version of the Shuso Sango Saho (service style), a Commemorative Dharma talk presented by Rev. Toshikazu Arai (Professor Emeritus, Soai University), and concluded with a shakuhachi perfomance by member Graham Ranft.
  Prior to the memorial service, a commemorative study seminar was conducted on November 12 and 13 with Rev. Toshikazu Arai who spoke on the topics, “The History and Teaching of General Buddhism” and “Japanese Buddhism.”
The Hongwanji Buddhist Mission of Australia was established in 1993 and currently has 90 registered members.
