Shinran Shonin spotted in rice field
Hiroshima, Japan- A tambo (rice field) art piece in commemoration of the 750th Memorial for Shinran Shonin sprung up earlier this May in Saeki district of Hiroshima city. Using seven different colors of rice plants as his paint and the rice field as his canvas, Rev. Hoju Aso, head priest of Jodoji temple (Aki District in Hiroshima), created the agricultural work of art measuring 45 meters by 20 meters and will be on display until October when the crops will be harvested. Through this project, it is hoped that the children will take some time to reflect on the appreciation of food and life.
